TREATMENT INFO & CONSENT

BOTULINUM TOXIN 101:

Botulinum toxin which can be branded as Botox®, Jeuveau®, or Xeomin® is a neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium. This toxin may result in relaxation of the muscles especially on the face and neck that may cause wrinkles associated with facial expressions or facial pain. Botulinum toxin treatment might make your facial expression lines or wrinkles less noticeable or totally disappear.

The most frequently treated areas are a glabellar area of frown lines located between the eyes, crow’s feet (lateral areas of the eyes), forehead wrinkles, radial lip lines (smokers lines), head and neck muscles. Injection of Botox into the muscles is not painful since it happens with a very thin needle, but some patients might sense a little burning pain at the moment of injection.

The procedure takes approximately 15 minutes and after 10-14 days, patients will begin to see the results. By repeating the injections every three to four months, treatment areas can better retain the improvements and maintain desired results.

PURPOSE OF CONSENT:

To provide written information regarding the risks, benefits, and alternatives of Botulinum Toxin treatment. It is important that the patient fully understand the treatment in preparation of receiving Botulinum toxin injections. Before signing the informed consent in the spa prior to your treatment, the patient should ask any questions regarding the treatment, use of botulinum toxin, and the procedure itself to their treatment provider, doctor or healthcare professional.

As Botulinum Toxin treatment is not an exact science, the appearance of the face may be uneven, with some muscles being more impacted by Botulinum Toxin than others. Botulinum Toxin injections in the same or surrounding muscles can usually rectify this uneven appearance. However, this uneven appearance might last for weeks or months in some circumstances.
